The ones that don't, are controlled by knobs and sliders (these are controlled on the fly). The ones that plug into the board, are controlled by the BIOS. Controllers have become more of an accessory rather than an integral part of a system. They didn't really take off, and most motherboards now come with lots of headers if you buy higher end boards. I haven't saw controllers plugging into the board for quite some time though. Those that plug into the motherboard via one cable, all fans plug into that controller. Just curious with the fan controllers, how does BIOS control them? Like the fan controller plugs into the fan connector on the motherboard, and BIOS and Windows can somehow see the fans connected? Or does it have to be a special kind?Correct. Great thanks so much that makes a lot more sense. But I recommend just controlling them within the BIOS.

    The manual just says plug it all in but doesn't say how. Is this where I'd get some kind of fan controller and then use profiles to have it on while gaming or whatever or just wondering how it works. Someone told me to put the Y adapter on the GPU itself but it's too small that connector, they aren't the same. I feel like the fan on the radiator should be controlled by the GPU, not running when I'm using Windows (since the standard fans on the GPU only run while gaming), and then speed up when it needs to be cooler etc. I used a Y adapter on my motherboard to connect the pump and fan to it, but what I don't get is the fan on the radiator just runs at the same speed of course, with the one on the GPU bracket being what goes faster or slower based on GPU temps.

    The Corsair H60 pump I have with radiator also has a fan on it which is a 120mm one with a normal 4 pin fan connector (larger than the GPU one), and then the pump itself also has a 4 pin fan connector. The bracket I have is Corsair HG10 which has a fan built in which is the small 4 pin plug that is supposed to connect to the GPU which is fine. The GPU itself has a 4 pin fan connector but it's really small. I have a GTX 970 graphics card that I'm liquid cooling but confused with the fans.
